Case Studies, Urgent Funding

£1.2m in Financing for Seas of Red raised in Three Weeks

On November 11th 2014, The Tower of London was awash with ceramic poppies created by artist Paul Cummins. A total of 886,246 poppies were planted to honour each British & Colonial fatality during WWI.

The talented artist was referred to Beer & Young by an industry peer, who knew we could be relied on to find the right investor. This large-scale project needed a serious injection of capital to employ staff, procure supplies and hand-make each poppy.

Once engaged we jumped into action straight away. We wrote a carefully worded, discreet, executive summary and put together a small shortlist of trusted and known investors. We presented to investors individually and not surprisingly the level of interest was strong. One investor stood out – as so often happens – and within three weeks we had raised the required level of capital.

Thus the project received the necessary and critical funding to move forwards on time. The investor was delighted to be associated with such a unique project and one with such admirable charitable aims. At the end of the exhibition, the poppies were sold to the public raising millions of pounds for numerous service charities.

We hope you had a chance to see the poppies for yourself. We are so proud to have raised funding for this commemorative display.
